Spiritan Missionary Seminary Celebrates the Class of 2025 with Joyful Graduation

 

ARUSHA, TANZANIA – The Spiritan Missionary Seminary (SMS) was a vibrant scene of joy, hope, and solemn ceremony on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, as the institution celebrated the academic achievements of its graduating class. Clad in their distinguishing red and blue academic regalia, the newly-minted graduates marked the culmination of years of intense philosophical study, spiritual formation, and pastoral training.

The day was a powerful testament to the seminary's enduring commitment to its mission: to prepare dedicated, well-formed, and missionary-minded priests and brothers for service in the Universal Church, particularly for the evangelization of the poor.

 

A New Chapter for Future Missionaries

 

The graduation ceremony, held in the seminary's main hall  commenced with a celebratory Mass, emphasizing the vocational journey of the graduates and invoking the Holy Spirit's guidance for their future ministries.

The Rev. Dr. Fr. Colman Kimaryo, C.S.Sp., Rector of the Spiritan Missionary Seminary, delivered a stirring address. He congratulated the graduates on successfully navigating the demanding curriculum and formation process, reminding them that their degrees are not an end in themselves, but rather a sacred mandate for mission.

The Guest of Honor, Most Rev. Fr. Kimaryo CSSp. , also offered words of profound encouragement. In his keynote speech, he praised the Spiritans for their role in evangelization across the globe and urged the new graduates to embrace interculturality in their assignments. "Your formation here in Arusha has prepared you for a borderless Church. The world is your mission field go and preach the Gospel with humility, love, and courage," the guest of honor stated.

 

Academic Excellence and Seminary Charism

 

The Class of 2025 included 54 graduates who received diplomas in Religious studies and Degree in Philosophy. The ceremony included the presentation of academic awards to various seminarians who exhibited tremendous success and abilities.

The vibrant atmosphere, punctuated by traditional liturgical music and the applause of proud family members, faculty, and confreres, underscored the deep sense of community and the strong spiritual foundation that defines the Spiritan Missionary Seminary. As the celebration concluded, the graduates tossed their caps high, symbolizing the launch of their new lives in service to the Church. They departed the halls of SMS ready to take their formation into the world, embodying the missionary zeal of the different Congregations.
